AYSO is fundamentally a child development program with soccer at its core. We are committed to delivering a quality experience for children and a major focus of that commitment is safety.

We do this by ensuring that all volunteers are trained and certified for the job they do. By requiring background checks and safety training, and having dedicated volunteers like the Child Volunteer Protection Advocate (CVPA) and Safety Director to ensure we follow those policies and procedures. It doesn’t stop there though - coaches ensure practices and games are safe for their players and the guiding ideas for referee game management are: Safe, Fun and Fair.

The Safety Director is concerned with providing a safe environment for the games. Among other things, they ensure we have safe fields, provide a process for managing injury/incident reporting, and consult on other safety measures.
